Report the loss of your Polish licence

Transport department (wydział komunikacji) of the county or city office — The loss must be reported within 30 days. The loss declaration is made under criminal liability for false statements.

What you get
Your Polish driving licence. If the foreign document was not kept at submission, you hand it in at collection at the latest — you will not get the Polish licence without surrendering the foreign one. The office sends the document to the issuing country (exception: privileged categories under § 14(12) — the document stays in the case file).

What can go wrong

The loss must be reported to the starosta within 30 days. The loss declaration is made under criminal liability for false statements — do not report as lost a document you still have.

Report the loss without delay and apply for the duplicate right away — the lost document is invalidated and will not return to circulation even if found.
